It's the Season for Service!

The ISF Academy PTA is hosting the 2021 Secondary Family Service Day on Saturday, January 30 from 9:30-11:30 am. This autumn’s event is Secondary-focused and open to students and families from Grades 6-12.

Event check-in opens at 8:45am on the day. A short briefing will begin at 9:15am, with activities starting at 9:30am. There will be a Lemonade Stand and Bake Sale available during the event, but we encourage you to bring your own water bottles.

The ISF Academy PTA is partnering for this event with two local, grassroots charitable organizations, Impact Hong Kong and Bethune House. Established in 2016 by Jeff Rotmeyer, Impact Hong Kong is committed to serving and improving the lives of the more than 1,000 people suffering from homelessness in Hong Kong. Impact HK is a groundbreaking organization that makes a difference in the daily lives of the most needy Hong Kong citizens by providing food, toiletries and daily necessities, as well as kindness, friendship, and community support. They conduct weekly Kindness Walks through 10 areas of the city, serve more than 2100 hot meals each week at The Guest Room, their centre in Lai Chi Kok, and help over 800 people on the streets each week.

The Bethune House also provides support for some of Hong Kong’s most vulnerable citizens, migrant women workers in crisis. Established in 1986, Bethune House provides legal and medical support, shelter and provisions, and programs for education and stress relief to help empower female migrant workers and help them back on their feet.

We are honored to be working this year with these organizations to help support Hong Kong citizens in need. Service Day participants can help make Kindness Mats out of upcycled plastic bags, assemble first aid kits for distribution on Kindness Walks to the needy, and pack Chinese New Year's Hampers for residents and visitors to the Bethune House.

In addition to the upcycling activities, students and parents will have the opportunity to view some of the fantastic Service CCAs and student-initiated Service Action/CAS projects that are running this year in Secondary at our Mini Service Fair.

Please note that each student may be accompanied by one parent. Participation in this event requires a $100/participant donation. All monies will be donated to Impact Hong Kong and the Bethune House, which are registered charities in Hong Kong.
